Torchligh is a fantasy RPG from Runic Games. First released on PC, the game has been re-designed to fit the console and bring the same fun experience.

If you've played games like Diablo, you should fit in nicely with Torchlight. It's an easy to pick up hack-n-slash that is so simple, but yet fun to play. There's no difference between the PC version and on the console. It's exactly the same game but made for use with the controller. Runic Games have done an excellent job to making the controls fit instead of a mouse and keyboard. And whilst the menus might look confusing it's extremely easy to get to grips with.

Torchlight begins like many role playing games do. First you choose a Hero to take on the role. There's three different characters to choose from and each have their own unique power and skills to learn. Once you've picked your Hero you must then choose a pets that will stick by your Hero at all times.

The game opens in the town, Torchlight. From here you can purchase weapons, health, armor etc. It's the main hub to the game and is joined to dungeons you will travel to on your journey. Expect to see a lot of dungeons in the game and lots of loot. As you make your way through the underground you will be finding loot left right in centre. The place is full of it, but you can only carry so much at once. You will need to travel back to the town to spend it, or if you wish you can send your pet to spend it for you and then return.

Whilst the game isn't a deep RPG with character customization, the leveling system is quite the opposite. Killing monsters and completing quests will not only reward you with fame but also gain you points. These can be used towards new skills or upgrading stats which are Strength, Dexterity, Magic and Defence.

There's no amazing plot behind the game but it's not needed to enjoy Torchlight. The story mainly revolves around Ember, (a precious stone) that is possessing magical properties deep beneath the town. Your chosen Hero must travel down into the mines and investigate what's going on. Apart from the main story you can complete many side quests.

Torchlight is a simply and fun RPG that fits perfectly for the console. If you didn't get a chance to play the PC version, this is definitely worth checking out.
