The addictive IOS game Quarrel has made it's way to Xbox Live Arcade. Let the word war commence.

If I was to describe what type of game Quarrel is, then I would say it's like
a game of Risk mixed with scrabble. Combining both, strategy and puzzle, Quarrel can be a very addictive game. Your main goal is to try and rule territories, also known as tiles. The person with every territory ruled wins the game. It's very straight forward, but the game does offer a well illustrated tutorial that shows you all the basics. I found it very useful and I was conquering islands in no time.

Quarrel is set out very similar to Risk. At the start of each level you are given a certain amount of soldiers. To attack a territory you must place your  soldiers onto an enemy tile. This then triggers a battle where you must find the highest scoring word. Quarrel isn't so much about creating the longest word, but using letters with a higher value. For example, the opposing side could have a word containing five letters, but I could still win with a three letter word. Once you take over a territory, enemy soldiers become your prisoners. You can then use these against the opposite team.

The best part of Quarrel is from it's domination mode. Here you are given 12
different islands to conquer. Domination is much more challenging than a quick match, due to having a limited time when picking a word. This can offer some very intense moments. As well as Domination, the game also offers daily challenges, and a quick match. I find Quarrel works best with two players, but the game does support a total of four. You can play locally or over Xbox Live.

When it comes to the visuals, Quarrel is a very nice looking game. It's
bursting with colour, cuteness and delightful sounds. It's very charming for how simple the game actually is.

Quarrel is a great version of the IOS game. For those who enjoy strategy, and word games, Quarrel is a must for 400MP.
