Burnout CRASH! is an XBLA title developed by Criterion Games.
If your familiar with the Burnout series you will no it's had a great run of games. The crash mode that was introduced in the early Burnout titles is what Burnout CRASH! is all about. There's no races to compete in, it's simply colliding with traffic and trying to cause as much damage as possible. The top down style view makes a real retro and arcade feel. It's a lot of fun and gives a new and interesting spin to the Burnout franchise.
Burnout CRASH! is a very controller friendly game. Each level starts with your vehicle driving into oncoming traffic and all you must do it steer the car with the left analog stick towards it. Once you crash into vehicles you will build up the crashbreaker and once full it will allow you to blow up you car. The more vehicles that collide into you the more the crashbreaker will fill up again. As your car explodes you can steer it again into different directions. If it be heading for more traffic or into building structure.
There's three modes available in Burnout CRASH!,The first mode is called Road Trip and the objective here is to keep your crash going until five vehicles have escaped. The second mode is called Rush Hour and this is all about causing as much destruction within a set amount of time. And finally,
Pile Up gives you a limited amount of traffic and you must try to cause as mush damage as possible.
At the end of each level you are rewarded with stars. There's five obtainable in each level and it can be tough to collect them all. These can be from reaching a certain score, creating Explosion Combos or reaching a x3 multiplier with Inferno. If your the competitive type it will take you a while to get all the stars and you can also challenge your friends with the Autolog feature. Autolog features in many EA titles today and it's just as great in Burnout CRASH! When a friend takes over your score you will receive a message and be able to try beat it. You and your friends can also create and send a challenge. It's a lot of fun and adds some great competition if you like that sort of thing.
You can also have an entirely different experience with Bunrout CRASH! if you own Kinect. Playing with the Kinect splits you up into two teams and you must take in turns for the best score. I wasn't sure how Bunrout CRASH! would fit in with Kinect but it works rather well. You hold your hands out like your holding a steering wheel to turn and exploding is used by kicking your feet into the air. I wouldn't suggest buying the game for the Kinect experience but it's a nice added bonus.
Burnout CRASH! is a lot of fun. If you like causing destruction and enjoyed the crash mode from previous Burnout titles, this is one you should definitely check out.
