Super Meat Boy is the latest game from Microsoft's promotion Game Feast. Speaking of feast, you should definitely feast your eyes on this one. Before I continue I must warn you this game is rock solid. Forget Super Mario or Sonic, Super Meat Boy is the new face of retro 2D platforming. This game will kick your arse!

You play as a  cube shaped boy who is made of meat. He has a girlfriend called "Bandage Girl. An evil Dr, named "Fetus" doesn't like Meat Boy and has kidnapped Bandage Girl, so It's up to Meat Boy to rescue her.  Your goal is to rescue Bandage Girl in the fastest time you can. You will travel to different worlds each with a selection of levels in each one. If you complete a certain level in par time you will unlock a dark world version of that level. After completing all levels in a world you are faced with a unique Boss battle, these are great fun but can become very fustrating. I was stuck on the first Boss battle for quite some time. Like i said at the top, this game is rock solid and is not for the casual gamer.

What makes it so hard is the tight control's. There simple to use but are very hard to master on each level. You use the A button to jump, the analog stick to move and holding RT or LT creates a power slide. Meat Boy can slide up walls and make ridiculous jumps to the next wall by power sliding in the air. Each level has dangerous obsticles from saw blades, spikes and many others. One touch on them, Meat Boy will be splatterd leaving a stain of blood. You will die more and more as you progress. Levels eventually seem impossible to complete but when you finally complete a level you are rewarded with a replay of your deaths all at once. It's entertaining to watch as the screen is full of Meat Boys leading to their death.

Whilst playing through the levels you will notice badages,  collecting these can be a little tricky but if you do they unlock hidden characters. There are 12 in total and all have their own unique ability but never go to far from Super Meat Boys powers.

After writing this review i can admit i haven't completed the game, It's to god dam hard. I die over and over again but i never give up on it. Its the most addictive XBLA game i have come across.

You will have a bloody good time playing Super Meat Boy. It's rock solid but it doesn't stop the fun and addiction. With over 300 levels and DLC to come, its worth every MP. This game should be remembered as one of the best retro 2D games ever created.
