With every iteration of EA's immensely popular FIFA series, theres always some changes across the playing field. Each year brings some form of tweaks, improvements and features to keep things feeling fresh. This year is no exeption, with FIFA 20 kicking off the new season with Volta, a brand new story mode. Theres also a greater emphasis on the defending side, but is it the best FIFA yet ? Read on to find out.
For me, Volta is the highlight this year. It's the latest inovation of EA's included story mode, which sees you competing in 4v4 matches throughout streets across the globe. It's a refreshing addition that almost feels like a seperate game entierly. Rather than heading into the stadium spotlight against big squads, Volta offers a more unique, enclosed gameplay experience. I found it much more enjoyable and engaging than FIFA 17's "The Journey". However, cutscenes between matches can be a drag, and it's as cheesy as you'd expect. With that said, Volta is the kind of revitolizing addition the series has needed. Fans of the spin-off FIFA Street series should find this an enjoyable addition.
But lets face it, the real reason people pick up FIFA every year is for the Ultimate Team.
