Valley of the Yeti's is the latest expansion to Far Cry 4, set in the Himalayas.
An enemy relay station, which you capture early on, is where you'll advance the story, refill supplies, and upgrade your arsenal. A series of night defense missions are triggered throughout the story. These have you trying to hold off waves of foes, as they try to plant charges. You'll be faced with tougher enemies as each night progresses. From heavy gunmen, snipers, to even Yetis. Completing upgrade quests allows you to upgrade the relay stations defences, such as placing down mines. It provides a slight tower defence element, which offers a nice break between the main story.
The Yetis are probably the standout of the package. My first encounter with one of these gigantic, mythical beasts was nerve-racking. It happened in a cave, as it hurtled towards me with little warning. I made a lucky escape, but the next encounters where more deadly. Taking down these big-footed creatures can take some time. The best approach is penetrating them with bullets, then performing a quick stab on their backs. You can also skin slaughtered Yetis, same as any other wildlife.
Valley of the Yetis is a refreshing, fun expansion. The story mode may be a little short, and your left with little to do once it's over. Yet, it's a well crafted add-on, and the night defence missions are a nice change to the formula.
